Biography
Frederick M. Hueston is an internationally recognized stone and tile consultant, author, educator, and expert witness with more than 45 years of industry experience. He is the founder of Stone Forensics, an independent consulting firm specializing in the investigation, diagnosis, and prevention of stone and tile failures.
Fred holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical and Physical Science from the University of Central Florida. His scientific background, combined with decades of hands-on field experience, helps him explain complicated stone and tile problems in clear, practical language.
He has written more than 40 books and over 400 articles covering natural stone, tile installation, restoration, inspection, troubleshooting, workplace safety, and business practices. Many of his books are written for contractors, inspectors, architects, consultants, and restoration professionals who need reliable information they can use in the field.
Fred also writes books for homeowners. These guides explain how to properly clean, maintain, protect, and troubleshoot marble, granite, limestone, travertine, quartzite, tile, and other surfaces. His goal is to help homeowners make informed decisions, avoid damaging products and methods, and know when a problem requires professional attention.
Fred teaches the Stone and Tile Inspection and Troubleshooting Seminar, provides specialized industry training, and hosts The Stone & Tile Show podcast.
